mini-buffer

dowel

This is a great mini-buffer for buffing a nut after final sanding with 1200 finesse paper. Cut a slot in a 3\8 inch or 1\2 inch wood dowel and slide a 1 inch x 4 inch length of diaper rag or flannel into it. Chuck it into your drill press for an instant buffing wheel. I use Mirror Glaze #4 and #7 (in that order, on separate strips) for a glassy finish on bone nuts and saddles. Work both ends towards the middle to avoid catching and throwing the nut.
