Low-cost buffer

In the picture above is a mandrel assembly that you can buy from Lee Valley that will allow you to build a low-cost buffer unit. All you will need is an electric motor with a pulley, the belt and some wood to mount it to.

The electric motor can be a used furnace motor, sewing machine motor, you name it anything over say 1\4 horse would probably get the job done.

When I saw this in the catalog the ideas just started to flow and I hope it gives others out there the same inspiration to create some of your own shop equipment that will truly set you apart from the pack.
